Cylance Protect Anti-Virus

**As of February 2024, Cylance has been replaced with Microsoft Defender.**  

Cylance Protect replaced McAfee Anti-virus on CCSU-owned computers. Cylance is an advanced threat protection program that utilizes machine learning and artificial intelligence to categorize files and running processes.  Files deemed ‘unsafe’ or ‘abnormal’ are quarantined. Cylance, unlike most antivirus solutions, is not reliant on daily virus definition updates or weekly system scans; so it is less CPU, memory, and hard drive intensive which should provide you with a better user experience.

How to Access:

Click on the Cylance icon (green shield) from your taskbar (Windows) or menu bar (Mac) to open the Cylance console. The Cylance console will list any threat detections and the status.

How to Request:

Cylance is automatically installed on all CCSU-owned computers.
