Faculty and Staff may sponsor special BlueNet accounts for these purposes:

  • Vendors, Volunteers, Unpaid employees - people in this category are doing university-related work, but are not in our Banner system as paid employees. They are expected to abide by the CSCU IT-001 Acceptable Use Policy and will be issued a BlueNet account that begins with "ven_", which will include an email address. A full-time faculty or staff member must request the account, is considered the sponsor, and is responsible for ensuring the account is used according to our policies and procedures. Accounts in this category will expire on August 1st of each year unless an earlier date is specified, and may be renewed yearly.
  • Guests - people in this category are guests for a conference, special event or class. Faculty and staff may sponsor a guest account and are responsible for ensuring it is used according to our policies and procedures. The account is only to be used while the guest is on campus and will not include an email address. Guest accounts have an expiration date not to exceed 90 days from the date requested. If the guest account for is for a conference or special event, multiple people may use the same account username/password (for example, to log into the instructor workstations or student computers).

How to Access:

The faculty/staff sponsor will receive an email from CCSU Accounts Management when the special BlueNet account has been created. The email will contain account details.

How to Request:

Vendor, Volunteer, Unpaid Employee Account:

  • Direct the vendor, volunteer or unpaid employee to review and sign the IT-001 Acceptable Use Policy, then email a PDF copy of the signed form to you as the sponsor (they may digitally sign using Adobe Acrobat or print the form, sign it, and scan it back to PDF). Paper copies of the form will not be accepted. Account requests will not be accepted without the signed policy document attached.
  • As the sponsor, you must fill out the Vendor/Unpaid Employee Account Request form.
    1. Navigate to https://itrequests.ccsu.edu
    2. Login with your CCSU email address and password.
    3. Search for "Vendor" and select the Vendor/Unpaid Employee Account Request form.
    4. Complete the form; click Review & Submit; confirm the information and click Submit. This is considered your signature on the form.
  • You will attach the signed IT-001 Acceptable Use Policy to your request. Account requests will not be accepted without the signed policy document attached.
  • You will receive an email from techsupport@ccsu.edu with the request ticket number. You will receive an email from CCSU Accounts Management when the account is ready for use.

Guest Account:

  • As the sponsor, complete and submit the Guest Account Request form.
    1. Navigate to https://itrequests.ccsu.edu
    2. Login with your CCSU email address and password.
    3. Search for "Guest" and select the Guest Account Request form.
    4. Complete the form; click Review & Submit; confirm the information and click Submit. This is considered your signature on the form.
    5. You will receive an email from techsupport@ccsu.edu with the request ticket number. You will receive an email from CCSU Accounts Management when the account is ready for use.

By submitting the request, you are agreeing to the IT-001 Acceptable Use Policy on behalf of your guest. You do not need to attach a copy of the policy to the request.

If the guest account for is for a conference or special event, multiple people may use the same account username/password (for example, to log into the instructor workstations or student computers).

When logging into a Windows 11 computer you must enter the username as a full email account, including "@my.ccsu.edu". (for example, the username GuestAccountTemp would be GuestAccountTemp@my.ccsu.edu)

Additional Information:

  • For vendor, volunteer, and unpaid employee accounts It is highly recommended that they complete the Vendor Account Verification form linked in the email you receive with their account information. This allows them to call the IT Help Desk for assistance with their account should they need their password reset; otherwise any requests for account assistance would need to go through you as the sponsor and may delay access to the account. If a vendor account password expires, they can change it themselves using Accounts Management. They choose "Manage Your Account", NOT "Forgot Password". If a vendor forgets their password, they or their sponsor must call the Help Desk.
  • Guest accounts for a conference or special event may be used by multiple people. Provide the username/password to the guests (for example, to log into the instructor workstations or student computers).
  • A BlueNet account is not needed for guests to use the ccsu-guest wireless network. Guests may register for the ccsu-guest wireless network themselves using their mobile device (phone, tablet, computer). If you would like to pre-register guests for the ccsu-guest wireless network, you may do so using the Guest Sponsor Portal. For more information on guest wireless accounts, see https://www.ccsu.edu/it/itservices/guestaccess.html
