Microsoft Teams is a unified communication and collaboration platform that combines persistent workplace chat, video meetings, file storage, and application integration. Teams gives departments the ability to work together and share information via a common space.  Other features include document collaboration, one-on-one chat, and team chat.

All campus departments have a Team in Microsoft Teams to be used for file sharing and collaboration. It is the department's responsibility to add and remove members of the departmental Team.

Teams can be used with your students. They do not need to be a member of a Team to use the chat or online meeting functionality.

How to Access:

Microsoft Teams is installed on all CCSU-owned computers (Windows and Mac). You may also access Teams online at https://office.ccsu.edu

How to Request:

IT has created departmental Teams and they are now available to you. It is the department's responsibility to add and remove members of the departmental Team.

Teams for a project or special assignment:

  1. Navigate to https://itrequests.ccsu.edu
  2. Login with your CCSU email address and password.
  3. Search for "Microsoft Teams Request".
  4. Complete the form; click Review & Submit; confirm the information and click Submit.

Teams for a class:

  1. Navigate to https://itrequests.ccsu.edu
  2. Login with your CCSU email address and password.
  3. Search for "Coursework Microsoft Teams Request".
  4. Complete the form; click Review & Submit; confirm the information and click Submit.

More information about Teams for classes:

  • Students do not need to a member of a Team to use the online meetings or chat feature of Teams, those features are there for all accounts. A faculty member should only request a Team for their class if they are going to use other features such as shared files and shared OneNote notebooks.
  • If you only need to share files, you may want to use OneDrive as a replacement for the Course V netshare (if you don't plan to use all the features of Teams), see Teams or OneDrive as a Coursework V Drive Replacement
  • Our version of Teams does not currently support the full "education class" functionality (features such as assignments, gradebook and class notebook). You may set up file sharing and create shared notebooks yourself, see the links below for instructions.
  • When you request a coursework Team, the roster is uploaded as of the time of your request. Any changes during add/drop will need to be made by you, see the instructions below for adding and removing members of a Team.
